Same Difference Q&A (3rd January 2008)

A new year and what a start to it!

January brought with it the Same Difference Q&A session and what an exciting event it was.
The session was full of cheesy questions and even a couple of shocking moments not least when "Brifan" proposed to Sean live on the web!

Once the final pre submitted questions were answered Sean and Sarah stuck around for over half an hour having a chat with their fans.

SD Q&A

Q: Before you auditioned for X Factor, were you singing the same cheesy style of songs we saw on the live shows?

A: We have always loved cheesy music because whenever those songs come on at discos they are the best floor fillers but generally we used to sing songs that are a little bit more serious from the 50's till now... although we do love the songs that we were given by Simon to sing on the show!

Q: How long did you have to maintain secrecy before revealing the news to your friends and family that you had made it through to the live shows?

A: It was sooo hard to keep the good news from our friends and family but we got to tell the immediate family (the 10 people you saw at our house on the show) as soon as we came back from marbella. It was about 4 weeks before we could tell anyone that we were going and we had to make up excuses when we went into the house 2 weeks before the first live show.

Q: I think your appearance on X-Factor will have done a lot to empower kids who are being bullied. Have you had any thoughts about being involved in anti bullying campaigns?

A: We have been asked by a few anti bullying campaigns to be ambassadors and we are currently sorting out which campaigns we feel strongly about and therefore fronting. Of course we feel very strongly about the issue and want to do all that we can to make sure it doesnt happen to more people!!

Q: Describe each other's worst habits / best qualities.

A: Sean’s worst habit is he listens to loud music late at night! You can hear it through the walls while im trying to sleep!! Sean’s best quality is that he is always there for a chat and listens well!

Sarah always bites her nails.. it drives me insane!!! Im like "get your fingers out of your mouth" LOL!! Sarah's best quality is she is always happy even when things go wrong. That was a toughie!!!

Q:Cats or Dogs

Puppies or Bubbles

Summer or Winter

City or Country

Eastenders or Corrie

A: Sarah: Dogs, Puppies, Winter, City, Corrie

A: Sean: Dogs, Puppies, Summer, Country, Eastenders

Q: We know that you've signed a single deal with Simon. Has the song been chosen yet and is it an original song or a cover? If it is an original would you like to be involved in the writing of it? Do you think you will perform the single on the X Factor tour?

A: We havent yet decided what song we will be recording yet. We would both like to record one of our favourites from the show or an original. It has to be one that makes people smile though. if all goes well with the single we hope they will make an album.. fingers crossed!! We both like to write songs so we may have an input but we arent sure as yet

Q: Singing or Acting

Steps or S Club 7

Night In or Night Out

Christmas or New Year

A Musical or a Play

A: Sarah: Singing, steps or sclub is tough but i think probs Sclub, night in, christmas, musicals

A: Sean: singing, steps, night in, christmas, musicals

Q: If you could choose one singer to record a song with, who would you choose?

A: Sean: Girls aloud.. how fit + they are lovely!!

A: Sarah: Mcfly... i actually love them!!

Q: Which was your favourite song that you performed on the X Factor and why?

A: We both loved performing Breaking Free because it was the song that really put us into the competition! But for personal reasons we loved never had a dream come true. 2b fair we did love all of them tho! Apart from the lameness that was Blame it on the Boogie (it was changed last min and we sucked!!)

Q: How do you think you would have fared in the competition had your mentor been someone other than Simon?

A: If we had louis we wouldnt have even made it through to the live shows so we were sooo lucky to have Simon!! He believed in us from the start and he had our best interest at heart! Danni had 2 in the final so she would have been a good mentor for us as well!

Q: What choreography did you think was most difficult? IMO you guys had the hardest job out there with the choreography you had especially Chain Reaction, but you looked like pro's. Me, I love the glitter throwing in Reach!

A: Glitter throwing was fun in Reach but Chain Reaction was the hardest by a mile!! We loved Brian Friedman! He was amazing at his job!! If it werent for him i dont think we would have done as well as we did.

Q: Was there any particular song you wish you could have performed in the live shows?

A: We asked many times to sing Dont Stop Moving by S Club also we wanted to sing Something inside So Strong because it has good harmonies and suits our voices! Simon thought it wasnt suited to the show tho! We also wanted to do What Ive Been Looking For from HSM

Q: Sean, what is your favourite football team? It was written in the Portsmouth News that you might sing at one of their matches, has a date been set and what song would you want to sing on that occasion?

A: Gotta be pompey.. gotta support the Hometown! Doing really well this season!! Apparently we have been invited to sing at fratton park and it would be a dream come true for me but nothing is finalised as it stands!!

Q: Apart from yourselves, who worked the hardest out of everyone and in your opinion deserved to win?

A: Rhydian worked the hardest but we think everyone in the final 12 had points that could have made them the winner! Leon was great on the final.

Q: Did you agree with the song choices for the final? If not, what songs did you want to do?

A: They were good choices for the night!! we loved singing All i want for xmas and we had to sing any dream will do because Jason Donavan was our guest artist! He was soo nice!!

Q: Well done on getting so far, what are the judges like off camera, are they any different? Did You get on? Any funny stories?

A: They were all lovely to us! Danni is tiny and soo beautiful.. she was such a nice lady, Sharon is just as she appears on the tele and Louis was a joker! Simon wasnt as mean as on the tele! hehe! No funny stories really.. sorry!! xxSDxx

Q: As you have a large child fan base do you feel under any pressure to be good so that no negative tabloid stories can written?

A: Obviously we have a lot of children look up to us so we do need to be careful, but having said that, we arent really naughty anyway! Although we did tell the school children that we used to skive and then had to take it back and tell them that 100% attendance was the way forward! oops! lol!

Q: What's the funniest thing you've ever read about yourselves?

A: Well I (sarah) was apparently dating rhydian in the fianl week of the show.. I was like "First ive heard of it". lol!!

I (sean) heard that i wanted to date Jordan!! Also had my bum plastered on the front of the people! hehe!

Q: Sean & Sarah do you have any definite gigs lined up for the New Year (before the X Factor Tour) and, if so, can you tell us some of the towns you'll be playing. Also where is the best place to find out what you are up to? (Apart from SDAT of course!)

A: We dont have our scedule with us at the moment but we will give a copy to gary to post on here. also check out www.officialsamedifference.co.uk for blogs and tour dates

Q: I remember reading one story on here saying that you'd had an argument about sarah not wanting to tidy her room It was headline news on here haha. Was this true?

A: It was a minor "Sar tidy your room" "No i dont want to" moment!! lol!! Mountains into molehills!! hehe!

Q: What do you think it was about yourselves that made people vote for you every week?

A: We didnt take ourselves to seriously and we just had loads of fun!! We had the best time ever and although there will (hopefully) be more good things to come we are going to miss the whole experience! Best time of our lives by a mile!

Q: What is your ultimate career ambition?

A: We would love to make Same Difference a household name! We would love 2 have a number 1 single this year and an album

Q: How did going to Simon Cowell’s home make you feel? What happens at the judge’s house – how long are you there for and where did you sleep, etc?

A: It was weird being at Simon’s house! it was so posh we didnt want to touch anything! We stayed at a hotel down the road but spent the days in the house! We were there 4 4 days

Q: Do you know what songs you will be performing on the tour?

A: They arent confirmed as yet! sorry!!

Q: My question is for sean. The girl you went on the date with during the x factor have you been on another date with her?

A: No I haven't been on a second date, it was sooo surreal because the cameras were there and we were both soooo nervous!! She was lovely and totally kaned me at bowling, Lol!! Made me look silly in front of all the xtra factor viewers!!

Q: If you hadn't done X Factor, what would you have been doing for the past few months?

A: Well I (Sarah) would've been in my last year at Italia Conti's performers College!!

And I (Sean) Woul'd probably be searching for some work in the entertainments business!! We've been sooooo lucky!!

Q: Did you watch the Extras Christmas special where they mentioned you? I was watching and when they said Same Difference I got really excited

A: Lol, We did see it, We were so excited too!! I wish they would order 10,000 SD Dolls, that would be AMAZING!!!

Q: Who did you get on best with out of all the contestants?

A: Well I loved them all in they're own ways!! Leon was sooooo funny!! Rhydian was great to talk to about more serious things!! Nikki was like a mother to us in the house!! Also I (Sean) got on well with Daniel and Futureproof b4 they left!!

Q: How did everyone in the house react to Emily's departure?

A: We were all really shocked!!

Q: If you guys both auditioned but the judges said that only one of you had talent, what would you guys do? Would you decide to leave it, or would the person who the judges said had talent, try and make it solo?

A: I hope that sounded right. For example, if you guys auditioned but the judges said Sarah had talent and could make it solo, would she go solo with Sean supporting her? Or would Sarah decide that unless they both got through, she wasn't doing it?Well, we were wondering if they would split us up at our first audition!! we decided that if they put one of us through we would be pleased for the other person and go ahead as a solo!! Sooooooo glad that it didn't happen!! That would've been awful!!

Q: Do you own any albums from previous X Factor contestants and if so which is your favourite?

A: I have just bought Leona's Album!! For me (Sean) she is the best ever!!
